Chris Henry, who was born May 17, 1983 and died tragically on December 17, 2009, played for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League as a wide receiver. Before being drafted by the Bengals he played on the college football team at West Virginia.

The public perception of Henry was one of a tough guy who seemed to gravitate to trouble. Perhaps this perception wasn’t too far off. During his five season with the Bengals he was arrested several times for various infractions. His arrests were one of the things that prompted the league to take a closer look at its policy of personal conduct and make the rules more stringent.

His coach and team mates had a somewhat different opinion of Chris than the public did. They saw him as a young man that was ready to leave his somewhat turbulent past behind and make the future more stable and promising.

At a time that might have been a turning point in his life it all ended for Chris Henry. On the 17th of December he fell off the back of a pick-up truck on a winding residential street near Charlotte, North Carolina. It was the end for Chris, and the end for the relationship with his fiancée an their three small children. A tragic end.
